This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
1 Timothy 1:15-16

Reflection

Sinners

The human history is full of horrors, wars, and diverse extremely low acts. However, all of this gives us a true view of what is in the human heart like the secret and sincere confessions that a believer does to his God, because only the safety of being forgiven gives us the clarity and strength to recognize before God the deep roots of the evil within us. The more we know the Lord, the more it seems that our natural being is apart from Him, that is why we are not surprised when the apostle Saint Peter says that he is the first of the sinners, however he also says that Christ lives in us through faith. As believers we possess two natures; one of them is completely degraded, and the other is perfectly whole, it is the life of Jesus Himself in us.
